About the Work

This page describes the following scene (#227) where Gus is feverish from his wounds and Pea Eye enters the fast-running river in an attempt to float past the Indians and go for help. As part of the pre-production planning, this page describes the duties of each of the relevant departments for this scene. The special effects team is notified to have rain towers, water tank controls for flooding, and outboard motors to simulate water turbulence. Notes to the set department say the cave needs to be reinforced to prevent collapse and to wardrobe that the actors need wetsuits under their costumes. All these preparations are invisible to the viewer, but are necessary to create the illusion the storytellers want the viewer to see.
