Learn about the Eastern Side of this Western Artist
Although known as an iconic artist of the American West, Frederic Remington lived and worked in the Eastern United States for most of his life. While painting scenes of American Indians galloping through the open plains or cowboys astride their steed, Remington’s New York studio was surrounded by the landscapes of the North Country, from the lakes and foothills of the Adirondacks to the Saint Lawrence River and the forests of Canada. Opening Fall 2018, the Sid Richardson Museum has partnered with the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, New York to bring Fort Worth visitors a collection of paintings depicting the Eastern countryside in the unprecedented exhibition Another Frontier: Frederic Remington’s East. Join us as art historian Dr. Mark Thistlethwaite discusses another side of this American artist.
