Docents
Each year, more than 50,000 visitors visit the Sid Richardson Museum. Docents, professionally trained volunteers who lead tours for adults and children, share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the artworks, providing a valuable service for the museum.

The Museum offers a docent training program in the interpretation of its collection of artworks by Frederic Remington, Charles Russell and other western artists. Participating in this program is a unique opportunity for adults to positively shape visitor’s attitudes about art and museums.

The course provides volunteers with the historical background and skills needed to conduct interactive, inquiry-based tours. Featured speakers include local and regional academics, and museum professionals.

At the conclusion of the training course, docents begin a two and a half year commitment to lead a weekly tour, primarily for student audiences.

Interns
The Museum offers internships for students enrolled in local and regional universities, for which students may receive college credit.

Working with professional staff in the Museum's Education Department, students gain practical experience in the museum field and have the opportunity to work directly with programs, resources, visitors, and/or art objects.
